REMINDERS — FOUND ITEMS ON PROPERTY: CORRECT PROCEDURE

If a guard finds any item on a property or in a pool area—such as a tote bag, cell phone, keys, or any personal belonging—the procedure is as follows:

1. DO NOT TOUCH IT.

Do not pick it up, move it, bring it to the office, or take it home.

2. LOOK AT IT AND NOTE ITS LOCATION.

3. TAKE A PICTURE IF POSSIBLE.

4. SUBMIT A WHILE-ON-PATROL REPORT

State the exact location of the item.

5. LEAVE IT WHERE IT IS.

The owner will likely return to the last place they had it. If the item has been moved, it won't be there when they go back.

IMPORTANT

Touching or moving a found item may create unnecessary liability for OC Patrol. Leave it in place every time. No exceptions.
